This session had almost all of my favorite things in it, and some of the things I just could not live without....my family, a beautiful location, best friends, adorable giggly kiddos, and laughing until you cry...it couldn't have been more perfect. Well, if we could have included chocolate in there somehow, that would have made it Perfect!
Misty and Keela are some of my oldest friends. They are old...I'm not! (I am so going to get an angry phone call over that last comment, but oh well.) We have been friends since big hair and tight rolled jeans. What did I tell ya?....old! But even though they are ancient, I couldn't live without them. They are my best friends...the ones I turn to when I need to talk, the ones I run to when I need to laugh, the ones I lean on when I need help, the ones I call when I need advice. They are my cheerleaders that tell me I can when I think I can't. When I am overwhelmed, they tell me that everything will be ok. They are honest, and will correct me when I'm wrong. Which never happens, because I am never wrong. I'm just saying if I ever happened to be wrong, they would tell me. They are kind of like my own little safety net. I know they will be there for me and whatever life throws at me, and I am a stronger person because of them. They take me as I am, and I am eternally grateful that they are a part of my and my family's lives.
We are a little silly when the three of us are together. If you asked my husband, he would say we were a little obnoxious. What can I say? We have fun together. We get each other. They are the type of friends, where you just know what the other is thinking. The kind of friends where when something happens that you probably shouldn't laugh at, you cannot look them in the eye because you know that will cause you all to fall out in the floor laughing. We laugh a lot! So, when the three of us get together with our families, it is an event. Even something as simple as us all going out to eat, is an event. The three of us laughing, our husbands rolling their eyes at our old stories we supposedly tell over and over, and our kids being kids. We are a little loud, but it is always fun. Our dining experiences usually end with Misty apologizing to all the diners who were unfortunate enough to be seated next to us.
So, needless to say our session was an event. Luckily, we were out in the country so we could be as silly and loud as we wanted. That day will always have a special place in my heart. Our kids were running wild, husbands were again rolling their eyes, and the three of us were laughing until we cried. It was perfect! We even managed to get all five of our little darlings together for a photo. Hence, the Herding Cats title. With my son, being the wildest cat of them all. Seriously, I took over 20 shots to finally wind up with one photo where they are all looking at me and smiling at the same time. It was worth it ,though. I love that one picture. It makes me smile and gives me the warm and fuzzies. It reminds me of my family, my friends, giggly kiddos, and laughing until I cry. It will always remind me of that day, and the people that I can't live without!
