I went to high school with Jennifer and Chris. Go Bulldogs! In fact, Jennifer and I had most of the same classes together, were cheerleaders together... RAH!, were chased by Coach Gunn for wrapping his house once or twice, hid out in the gym's locker rooms to avoid running the cross country route with Becca.... Sorry, Mona!, and we graduated together. I won't divulge the year we graduated. Let's just say it was around 8 years ago! We even went to college in Waco together for a couple of years. Or maybe I should say we were both enrolled in the same college. Jennifer attended class a lot more than I did. Especially the 8:00 am classes. We took a Government class together, too. Jennifer was nice enough to sign me in on a lot of days that I couldn't quite make it to class. So many days in fact, that the professor thought I wasn't enrolled in the class when I decided to show up one day. I think I told him I changed my hair and that was the reason he didn't recognize me.
I've always known Chris to be a cut up. Always cracking jokes...never being too serious. I fixed Jennifer's hair for their wedding. After witnessing them exchange their vows, Chris stopped me and told me how beautiful Jennifer looked and thanked me for doing her hair. I have to tell ya, internet, I almost fell over! Seriously, I wasn't expecting that from Chris. He was the rough and tumble guy from high school that never said any of that sweet, sappy stuff. Or at least not in front of anyone! I guess this is why I have remembered that moment all these years. They now have 3 beautiful children, and their youngest, Karah, is in the same class as my son, Carson. So, needless to say, this was a fun session. At the end of our session, we talked Chris into taking some photos of just him and Jennifer. I told him they probably haven't had any photos of the two of them since their wedding day, and Jennifer informed us I was right and that they would soon be celebrating their 12th anniversary. I know...if you are doing the math from the years we have been graduated, that would mean Jennifer was 14 when she got married. She wasn't 14, but it's my blog and we'll just leave it that we graduated 8 years ago! So as we were finding spots for their photos, Chris remarked "Wow, I can't believe we have been married 12 years!" I was touched because I realized Chris was just about to be sweet and sappy again. Looking lovingly at Jennifer, he said "12 years! It seems like it was just 5 minutes... .......underwater." Same Chris I have always known!
