3 Years Ago Today

3 years ago today, hurricane Rita was on her way.

3 years ago today, I ran into a friend I had worked with years earlier.

3 years ago today, I was filled with the excitement of finally meeting someone I had dreamed of all my life.

3 years ago today, I was filled with fear of what it would take to meet them.

3 years ago today, I told an anesthesiologist that I loved him.

3 years ago today, I told John to quit telling me how to breathe.

3 years ago today, I learned that I could gain strength and comfort simply from John holding my hand.

3 years ago today, I learned that no matter how much you plan or envision things, they will unfold in a completely different way.

3 years ago today, I prayed over and over and over again.

3 years ago today, I heard my precious baby cry for the first time.  It was the most beautiful sound I had ever heard, and it is permanently seared in my mind so that I can visit it often.

3 years ago today, I first laid eyes on Carson as John placed him in my arms.

3 years ago today, I became a believer in Love at first sight.

3 years ago today, I realized John was so much stronger than I had ever given him credit for.

3 years ago today, my prayers had been answered and my heart was full.

3 years ago today, John's and my life completely changed.  We were no longer a couple.  We were parents of a beautiful and healthy little boy.  We were a family.  We were blessed.

Carson's party was Saturday, and he loved every minute of it.  The kiddos really enjoyed the cupcake decorating station and the races we had for them. 

 

 

Carson has repeatedly told us the past few weeks that he wanted to go to Chuck E Cheese, so by golly, we took him there today. 

 

After pizza and about 2 1/2 hours of playing games, we finally bribed Carson to leave with promises of ice cream.

 

We took him to Cold Stone Creamery where he was able to customize his chocolate ice cream with gummy bears and rainbow sprinkles.  We had a total disregard of nutritional common sense today.  

What birthday would be complete without a relaxing bubble bath?  Ahhhhh!

 

Ike Session

We had been paying attention to Hurricane Ike's forecast and his projected path of destruction for days.  John and I kept tabs on where he was headed and worried for our friends around the Corpus Christi area.  But, when they called for Ike to turn his attention to Houston and Matagorda, John made a quick call to his Granny telling her to pack her things....He was coming to get her.  About 15 minutes after it was first reported John began the 4 and a half hour drive to rescue his beloved Granny.  All the while, calling other family members and offering them a place to come to.  His cousin's wife and their three kiddos decided to make the trek up here, also.  Carson loved all the kids around and all of the excitement.  We went to the park, played soccer, made little sheep with construction paper and cotton balls, had races, a picnic, and a scavenger hunt, and of course, watched coverage of Ike on the news.  We did manage to squeeze in a photo session of the kiddos, too.  Hard to believe, huh?  I got some great shots out of our little Ike evacuees.

Nicole

I had my first senior session of the school year yesterday with Nicole.  After the rain Hamilton received yesterday, we almost canceled the session.  But after inspecting the park where we planned on shooting, I decided it wasn't too soggy.  It was a great session and we got some beautiful shots, despite a snake sighting and everything being a little damp. 

These are just a few of the shots from yesterday.  We started out in the park behind Kunkel Chiropractic.  I can't ever remember the name of it. Then, we finished up at Nicole's dad's house.  They have a gorgeous yard with some of the prettiest flowers.
